In january 2024 Disney updated their movie

Star War two movie will release in 2026.

release calendar and it included some

surprise news for Star Wars fans. 

the

film originally scheduled for release for 

December 19 2025 has been moved to May 22nd 

2026. the next two Star Wars films after 

that are slated for December 18 2026 and

December 17 2027.

 so that means we are

currently getting two movies in 2026

which I kinda doubt will actually happen

the delay of the 2025 movie doesn't

surprise me in the midst of the rider

strike. I think it's plausible two films

could release in the same year. I'm just

not sure it's the right move May 2026

will also see the release of Avengers

the Kang Dynasty and this whole

situation reminds me of the release of

solo a Star Wars Story coming out only

months after the Last. 

Jedi and in the

same month as Avengers Infinity War

Kathleen Kennedy mentioned wanting to

return Star Wars to its event status in

the movie theaters putting the next

movie, so soon after Avengers 5,  7 months

before the next Star Wars movie. 

 I'm skeptic vehicle that will actually

happen what's more is that the next run

of Star Wars films are all going to have

wildly different premises taking place

in three completely separate eras of

Star Wars. I think the new Jedi Order

film is probably next up, director

Charmaine obey chenoy has called it The

Next Star Wars film on a couple of

occasions so if that comes out but then

months later we see James mangold's dawn

of the Jedi movie. I could see that being

potentially confusing for the more

casual audience given, how poorly solo

was marketed.

I would hope there would be

more than seven months to properly

prepare audiences to see something brand

new. I think what's likely is that over

the course of the next three years that

may movie might move to December and

then we could return to yearly Star Wars

movies every December from 2026 through

2028 and hopefully Beyond which works

for me. 

I was really digging the holiday

releases and it gives Disney plenty of

time to communicate what the next film

will be about and show that it's a

different disconnected story I say that

but it's all also possible the new Jedi

Order and the dawn of the Jedi films

could be more intertwined than I expect

maybe we could see Rey beginning to

research the very first Jedi and what

their story was and that would lead us

into mangold's film. star wars movies in

 if it's actually

next up on the schedule or vice versa we

could see the start of the Jedi and then

jump all the way to their latest

iteration. 

I don't know right now but

that's the news of the day we are

currently set to have two Star Wars

movies in 2026 but those dates shift all

the time and I'm honestly not gonna

fully believe the next release date

until my butt is in the seat or we at

least get a trailer or something. but

what are you hoping for do you want two

Star Wars movies in a year or is that

too much.
